FRED E. BOLT

ARTIST: Fred E Bolt
TITLE: “Beesands, Kingsbridge, South Devon”
MEDIUM: Watercolour on paper 13.3/4” x 23.1/2”
Signed lower right and dated 1924
with gallery and framer’s label to the reverse.
REF: KFA 581 (SOLD)

Fred E Bolt exhibited one picture at The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool in 1909. He is listed as having lived at 37 Upper Belmont Road, Bristol.
Around the time when Beesands was painted in 1924, the address on the backing label of the framing for this is inscribed 33 Canynge Square, Clifton, Bristol.

His other exhibition venues might have been more humble affairs than The Walker Art Gallery, but this is a very fine example of his abilities. He has honestly and lovingly captured the beautiful essence of a Devon coastal scene, showing some of the rustic features as they would have been in the early twentieth century.
