TERRICK WILLIAMS RA, RBA, PRI, VPROI (SOLD)
“Two Figures in a Rural Village Setting” Pastel
Williams was born in Liverpool in 1860. He studied in Antwerp and Paris and was elected for membership to many art societies including The Royal Academy, The Nottingham Society of Artists, RBA, RI, PRI, ROI, VPROI. He exhibited from 1883 onward at, RA, RI, RBA, RHA, RCA, RNA, ROI, and many more. He was prolific, successfully exhibiting hundreds of pictures during his lifetime in dozens of major venues. Much of his work is of scenes from the continent and Northern Africa, often market places and figures depicted within a strong “sun-and-shadows” background. Williams was a unique and consistently good oil painter and exponent of watercolour and pastel techniques. This work is typical in that respect, but curious in its portrayal of the two figures posed within it.
