ERNEST DADE (SOLD)
‘Fishing Smacks and Paddle Steamer at Sheerness”
Sail and Steam together, a desirable tradition in marine depiction. Signed lower left, in a sea with nicely understated reflections, this is a truly excellent example of this artist’s work. Dade lived from1868 to 1935. He flourished between 1887 and 1904 with exhibition venues including RA, RBA, RI, NEA, and many more. As a very popular artist, he easily ranked alongside others such as Thomas Bush Hardy and Frederick James Aldridge.
