“The East Pier, Howth, Ireland” Watercolour
Strange taught at Scarborough School of Art as a lecturer. This is a view of the lighthouse at Howth, on the Northern coast of Dublin Bay. This pretty little composition, signed lower right, holds firmly to the finest traditional methods of marine watercolour painting. Strange was born in 1868 and from 1905 onwards exhibited works in the RA, RBA, RI, ROI and many other major venues during his lifetime. This watercolour was painted around 1890.
