John Tanton

“Mid Wales Landscape and Distant Farm Buildings” Oil

John has exhibited successfully many times at The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He was tutored by my father Frank Crowhurst and soon worked along side him, later becoming a teacher himself at The Eltham Evening Institute in London.
John has always enjoyed painting outside, abroad when possible. But France was a rarely affordable option for any painter in those days. I recall him speaking of his determination to achieve results in all weathers, whenever and wherever he could set up. This little picture might have been worked on in the rain, the distant sky suggesting an impending drenching!
John lives in Welling in Kent.
